Muriel Taylor
Artist Biography
Muriel King Taylor grew up in New Jersey and New York, but began painting in Wisconsin during her years of postgraduate training there. Career and family constricted her painting until her retirement when she began painting at home in Lakewood and when traveling elsewhere.
Muriel captivated by a painting done by Selinda Sheridan in 1998, was introduced to Sumi in an Art for Seniors class offered by Selinda, a teacher who continues to inspire her. Workshops and classes from Fumiko Kimura and Patsy O’Connell have broadened her experience. She has shown in PSSA organized exhibits as well as having had some watercolors in the local Maritime Art Show. She continues to live in Lakewood where flowers, encounters with nature, and classical Sumi themes challenge her anew.
