Sally Penley is a fine artist and professional calligrapher living in Olympia. In addition to her love of letters and mixed-media painting, Sally has long enjoyed making Asian-inspired “marks” with handmade sumi brushes and simple makeshift tools to create textural images with sumi ink.

Sally holds a BFA in Visual Communications. Before her “day job retirement, she was director of communications at Weyerhaeuser Company in Federal Way.

Sally is a full-time working artist at her studio in Tumwater where she also conducts various Zoom workshops on calligraphy, Sumi art, bookmaking and painting techniques.
