Mr. Leong is a master of Chinese painting and calligraphy who, along with his wife Yet Sim, operated the Chinese Art Studio & Gallery in Portland, OR, for more than 50 years. He taught classes and was an acclaimed demonstrator of Sumi art at many cultural venues before his retirement. He took western calligraphy from Lloyd Reynolds. His daughter Lisa learned brush painting at a young age, went to Reed College, and took calligraphy from Robert Palladino. She continued into medical art and prosthetics in graduate school. Both father and daughter were diagnosed with cancer in 2004, Wing with prostate cancer and Lisa with breast cancer. After 22 years in remission, Lisa continues the legacy as president of the Society of Calligraphy & Handwriting and honors her father through joint art collaborations.
